Blog Post #3 Name Design Reflection

1.  Describe the design process in the name design project. How was it helpful or not helpful for you?

We first had to make four little sketches and choose one of the four. After that, we had to make two variations of that design. Then we would make a clean draft of one of our two variations and make copies of it to experiment with color. Then eventually, when everything was done, we would make our final draft. The sketching was helpful for me, but that was also where I was stuck. I kept doing draft after draft and couldn’t really settle on one. But when I finally did, everything else went pretty smoothly.

2. How does the name design represent you? What components did you use to visually tell the viewer about yourself? (Composition, font style, images, symbols, colors, etc)

I drew the bookshelf to show that I am very organized and neat. The clock with my name as the digits was my original idea and it was supposed to represent patience, calm, and good with time and deadlines. So for my final draft, I decided to combine the two ideas into one.

3.  How did you create a focal point or emphasis in your design?

Because it is kind of obvious that the bookshelf showed neatness and organization, I wanted to emphasis my name and the clock, so I decided to make them my focal point.

4.  What was the most difficult part of this project for you? Why?

The most difficult part for me was settling on one design because I am also a very indecisive person, so it was hard for me to just pick one.

5. Are you satisfied with your project? Explain your answer.

Yeah, I think so. I think it successfully conveyed what I wanted it to convey- neat, organized, and patient.

6. If you can change anything, what would you change?

I would be more careful about coloring in because the red Sharpie I had at home and the red marker in the classroom didn’t really match perfectly, so when I touched up the red parts, it was slightly darker. And the size of the marker made it hard to keep the red precisely where I wanted it.

Blog Post #2:  Inspiration/Interests:

Post something that inspires you. It can be something that you are interested in or something you saw that blew you away. It can be that meal you ate when you traveled to another country or a movie/book that changed your way of thinking.  Please post a visual image that goes along with your inspiration. If you don't have the actual photo or video of what you're talking about, try to find something that is related to your topic.
